Hit Em Up Data Deletion and Retention Policy

Our philosophy on data retention is simple. Your data is yours. Share as little or as much as you want. Delete it whenever you want.

Hit Em Up Data Related Features

Hit Em Up is a mobile app that can work from multiple devices. If you want to access your messages from other devices (for instance from your computer and phone at the same time), you can elect to sync your data with our cloud services. This is completely optional and turned off by default such that the only data we store is the minimum amount to maintain your account and purchases if you elect to do nothing.

What We Store

To maintain your login credentials we store your phone number and some metadata about your account like your purchases.

Optional Sync Services (Opt in Only)

You may choose to opt in (in select regions) to use our sync services to access your groups and data across your own personal devices which would process your messages, groups and group members, and all necessary data required to maintain the same experience across your devices in real time. This option is toggable on each device you use. When you turn off the toggle, your aforementioned data from that particular device except the bare mininum to operate the app will be removed from our cloud service immediately. For maximum privacy, never share your login credentials with anyone.

How To Delete Your Data

You can delete some or all of your data at any time inside the app by going to Settings > Cloud Storage and turning off the toggle. This will turn off the syncing of the current device to your cloud. To completely remove all your information you can also click "Delete Account" which will delete all your information*.

*Retention

After you delete your account in the Settings of the App, we retain your account login (typically your phone number) and a record of your purchases for one year to ensure that you can restore functionality of the service and your already paid for services. After one year, we remove all references to your usage of our service.

Device and Service Related Analytics data and crash reports can be retained for up to 180 days.

Do you sell my data?

No. We charge a fair price for our service to fund our operations. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Why do you collect data?

To make the app work as expected. For instance, we need to know your phone number to send messages to your contacts. We also need to know your purchases to ensure you have access to the features you paid for.

Do I have to share my data?

We specifically made it easy to share less data. You can turn off the cloud sync feature and delete your account at any time. You can also delete your account at any time. Our focus is on providing a great service and not on collecting data.
